Teil is Arabic for Latin gramen {"grass"}, and in Greek it is agrostis; Stephanus writes theilum.
Commentary:
Teil:
Siggel (1950: 24): ﺛﻴﻞ /ṯīl/ Triticum repens L. (Gram.), gemeine Quecke {"couch grass"}.
Greek ἄγρωστις /ágrōstis/ can mean a number of grass species.
A vocalisation closer to Simon’s is found in Asín Palacios (1943: 137): "264: GRAMA – grama de España o común: … ﺛﻴﻞ /ṯayl/", see also Negem
Stephanus in his Breviarium writes: agrostis … theium {'l' misread as 'i'}
