From Simon Online
Scehair vel xahair arabice ordeum.
Apparatus:
Scehair BC ep? | Scheair A | Scehar j | Sc…cur? f
xahair ABC p | xahir f | xahar j | xahare ms. e
Translation:
Scehair or xahair is Arabic for Latin ordeum {"barley"}.
Commentary:
Scehair or xahair:
Wehr (1976): ﺷﻌﻳﺮ /šaʕīr/ "barley"; Siggel (1950: 46): ﺷﻌﻳﺮ /šaʕīr/ Hordeum (Gram.), Gerste {i.e. "barley"}.
This is one of the many attempts by Simon to represent the Arabic word ﺮﻳﻌﺷ /šaʕīr/; see below.
