Sacamonie arabice scamonea a greco corruptum et sahamode dicunt.

Apparatus:

Ms. e has this curtailed text: Sachamonie et sahamod arabice scamonea.
Sacamonie fp | Sachamonie ms. e | Sacomonie ul' sacamenie B | Sacomonie j | Samonie AC {loss of a syllable through a copying error}
scamonee AC | scamonea B efp | stamonea j
a greco | a greca p
corruptum | coruptum B f
sahamode C p | sabamode A {'h' misread as 'b'} | sachamode B | sahamod ef | sakimode j
et cetera add. j

Translation:

Sacamonie is Arabic for Latin scamonea {"scammony"}, a corrupted form of the Greek word. The Arabs also call it sahamode.

Commentary:

Sacamonie:
Cf. Siggel (1950: 42): ﺳﻘﻤﻮﻧﻴﺎ /saqmūniyā/ Convolvulus scammonia, Skammoniawinde {i.e. "scammony"}. σκαμμωνíα {/skammōnía/}.

The forms sahamode/ sabamode/ sachamode and sahamod are obviously the result of a contamination between Sacamonie and Mahamode. Since all witnesses show the contaminated forms the error must have occurred very early on.
