Translation:
Mogra or magra or almagra is in Latin sinopis {“red earth”} of the architects with which they draw lines, etc.
Commentary:
Mogra:
Cf. Siggel p.88: ﻣﻐﺮﺓ /maġra/, /muġra/ Rötelerde, Rötelton, rot u. gelb. {i.e. “red earth; reddish and yellowish cast”}.
ﻣﻐﺮﺓ /maġra/ has a variant vocalisation: /muġra/, the latter being the one represented by Simon’s Mogra; Simon’s almagra is the same word but with the article, i.e. ﺍﻟﻤﻔﺮﺓ /al-maġra/.
sinopida:
For sinopida see Sinopedion
