Korax corvus vetulus magis.

Apparatus:

Korax ABC f | Korachos e

coruus AC e f | cornus B

vetulus (uet- e) AC e f | uetulus uitulus B

magis AC e | magnus B | om. f

Translation:

Korax is Greek for Latin corvus {"a raven"} that is very old.

Commentary:

Greek κόραξ /kórax/ means "raven", Corvus corax" but does not imply that the bird is old.

The Greek κόραξ /kórax/ and Latin corvus are onomatopoeic, "kor-kor" being an imitation of the bird’s call. English "raven", German "Rabe" are also ultimately etymologically related to κόραξ /kórax/, corvus.

The Latin and the Greek words for the bird have survived into zoological Latin.
